Nobelpriset och mediernas roll

Syfte
Lektionstipset syftar till att lära eleverna att det finns kunskap som är svår, för att inte säga omöjlig, att hitta i läroböcker och att det därför är viktigt att använda medier.

Förberedelser
Sätt dig in i lektionstipset och följ nyhetsutvecklingen under den period som Nobelpriset är i mediernas centrum.
Ordna så att eleverna har tillgång till tidningar och andra medier under samma period.

Moment A – introduktion

Inled med att visa en artikel om 2013 års pristagare i fysik, som ett exempel på hur pristagarna kan presenteras i medierna: ”En entertainer får Nobelpris”. http://sverigesradio.se/sida/avsnitt/284483?programid=412
På en bild kelar fysikpristagaren Francois Englert med sin katt, på en annan underhåller han publiken på universitetet i Bryssel.

Samtala om Nobelpriset.
1. Vad känner eleverna redan till?
2. Hur har eleverna lärt sig allt detta?
3. Resonera om mediernas uppgift i samhället.

Moment B – fördjupning

Ge en bakgrund till Nobelpriset, Alfred Nobel och några kända Nobelpristagare. Korta fakta hittar du här: http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/facts/

 Moment C – aktivitet

1. Sök gemensamt bilder på de olika nobelpristagarna och sätt upp dem på en väggtavla.
2. Bestäm tillsammans vilken information som ska finnas med om varje pristagare.
Förslag till rubriker

  • Personen: Namn, ålder, land, universitet.
  • Priset: Vilket pris, motivering.
  • Annat intressant.

3. Dela in klassen i mindre grupper och samla information ur tidningar, eller andra medier, under tiden fram till Nobeldagen.
4. Sätt upp informationen på väggtavlan.

Moment D – uppföljning

Se något nyhetsinslag från Nobeldagen.
Samtala om pristagarna och om sådant som får stor uppmärksamhet i medierna.
Resonera kring varför medierna uppmärksammade vissa saker under Nobeldagen.

Fysikpriset 2018
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2018 was awarded “for groundbreaking inventions in the field of laser physics” with one half to Arthur Ashkin “for the optical tweezers and their application to biological systems”, the other half jointly to Gérard Mourou and Donna Strickland “for their method of generating high-intensity, ultra-short optical pulses.”
